The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has launched the enhanced Non-Preferential Certificate of Origin (eCoO) system, known as eCoO 2.0. This upgrade introduces a range of new, user-friendly features designed to streamline the certification process for exporters across India. The enhanced system is expected to significantly improve the efficiency and ease with which exporters can manage their certificate of origin needs.
The revamped eCoO 2.0 system offers several exciting features that aim to simplify the workflow for exporters:
Multi-User Access: Exporters can now assign multiple users or applicants under a single Importer Exporter Code (IEC), facilitating easier management within organizations.
E-Signature Options: In addition to the traditional digital signature token, the system will now offer Aadhaar-based e-signing, making it more accessible and convenient for users.
Integrated Dashboard: A common platform will provide seamless access to eCoO services as well as other related services such as Free Trade Agreement (FTA) information, trade events, and more.
The eCoO 2.0 system is now hosted on a new web domain, which can be accessed via https://www.trade.gov.in.
The transition to eCoO 2.0 was timed in phases to ensure a smooth shift for all stakeholders involved.
Each authorized issuing agency is required to designate an administrator who will manage online user and office management functionalities.
The administrator must register on the eCoO 2.0 system and complete the necessary steps to ensure their regional offices and issuing officers are appropriately set up.
With the roll out of the new system, it’s important for agencies and exporters to manage the transition effectively:
Preferential CoO applications will continue to be handled in the legacy eCoO 1.0 system until further notice is given by the Government.
The eCoO 2.0 system is also expected to introduce an e-Wallet facility for added convenience. However, it’s important to note that:

The new enhanced system is expected to significantly improve the efficiency and ease with which exporters can manage their certificate of origin needs.
